Portraits
Describe the lighting in the shot. Where is the light coming from? How is it falling on the models face/head/body?Describe the shadows that are created in the photo. In the picture of me the light is coming from the left from the window from outside. It falls on the right side of my face but the white background also made it a more bright background which had an impact on the lighting on my face. There is a shadow behind the right side of my face in the photo.
How is the model situated? Is the photo a head shot, or did you include more of the torso? Is the model facing the camera, looking to the side, tilting their head… The photo is only of my head & torso and I am facing away from the camera towards the light shining through the window.
Did you take a horizontal or vertical photo? What was your point of view? Did you shoot from above, below, from the side or on an angle? How close or far were you from the model? Kaitlyn took a horizontal photo and the point of view was on me because I am in the center of the photo. She was up close to me and it was shot straight forward on me.

Professional Portrait & Questions
Where is the light coming from? The light is coming from behind and it shows because the shadows of the dogs are in front of them.
What is the position or gesture of the model? All the dogs are in a different position, some are sitting and some are standing/moving. What is the background or setting? The background is overexposed but the setting is in front of a store/on the sidewalk of a street. What is the point of view and distance of the photographer? The photographer positioned the photo so that the dogs are in the center & are the focal point. The photographer is close to the dogs but not up close. What does the lighting, position of model and expression on face communicate? The lighting shows that it was a very sunny day when the photo was taken and it looks like most of the dogs are looking off into the distance at something. |
The photographer that I chose this photo from was Elliott Erwitt.
